【MCT oil】Good points and precautions for use


1. What is MCT oil?

MCT oil is an oil made of 100% caprylic acid and capric acid, which is classified as a medium chain triglyceride of saturated fatty acids.

It is characterized by being digested and absorbed more quickly than fats and oils of long-chain fatty acids (fat such as beef and pork) and less likely to be accumulated in the body.

The ingredients are palm and coconut. Above all, I would like to recommend the one made from coconut. I'll talk about the reason for this later!

2. Effect of MCT oil

①Diet support

The most noticeable effect is "Diet support".

Carbohydrates (glucose) are the main source of energy in the human body, but they support the production of alternative energy (ketone bodies).

Ketone bodies are the energy produced by breaking down fat in the body when the body's glucose is depleted, but MCT oil has a function to help this production, so it is a mechanism that makes it easier for fat to burn.

Therefore, it is attracting attention as a support for the medical field, sports industry, and diet.

②Improvement of skin problems

It is said that the "ketone bodies" produced by ingesting MCT oil have health effects such as anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and antioxidant effects, and also help with skin problems such as acne and atopy.

③Relieve constipation

It seems that many people improve constipation by taking MCT oil because good quality oil has the effect of coating stool and making it easier to get out.

However, if you take too much, you will feel sick and it may cause diarrhea and abdominal pain, so start using a small amount when you take it.

3. How to use MCT oil

①No heating

MTC oil is easy to oxidize and is sensitive to heat, so it is not suitable for cooking.

Like omega 3 oils, it's great for sprinkling on dishes, salads, and mixing with drinks.

②1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon, 1 to 3 times a day

When using MTC oil for the first time, it may be a burden on the gastrointestinal tract, so increase it gradually from 1 teaspoon once a day.

In addition, it is recommended to take it from morning to noon when energy consumption is high.

③For various dishes and drinks

MTC oil is tasteless, odorless and low viscosity, so it can be used with any dish or drink.

4. Precautions when using MCT oil

①Pay attention to the amount you start using

It is recommended to start with a small amount until the stomach gets used to it, as it stimulates the digestive system at the beginning of use and may cause abdominal pain and diarrhea.

②In a pottery or glass container

MCT oil has the property of deforming plastic containers, so if you use plastic tableware or containers, you will eat the melted plastic even if you cannot see it.

So use pottery or glass containers for food and drinks that use MCT oil.

Of course, when you buy MTC oil, be sure to choose one in a glass bottle!

③Very oxidizable oil

As I mentioned a little above, MCT oil is a very oxidizable oil.

Therefore, when purchasing, please choose the one in a light-shielding bottle, and refrigerate after opening.

④Reliable product

At supermarkets, we often see MCT oils sold by major manufacturers at relatively low prices, but because they are cheap, they are low in purity and lack safety and effectiveness.

There are two reasons why I wanted to recommend MCT oil, which is the raw material of coconut.

The first one "Made from oil palm kernel"

Compared to coconut-derived ones, palm-derived ones are cheaper and easier to get.

Palm-derived products are cheaper because palms are more productive (cultivated in large quantities) than coconuts.

The general ingredient for palm oil is the pulp of palm. Since palm oil is dominated by long-chain fatty acids among saturated fatty acids, it is tentatively different from palm kernel oil, which is the ingredient for MCT oil.

And the consumption of palm oil in Japan is the second highest.

You may think that you have never used palm oil, but palm oil is famous as an invisible oil.

For example, it is used in major restaurant chains and is also used as an ingredient in margarine and shortening, and most processed foods (sweets, prepared foods, frozen foods, etc.) are labeled as "vegetable oil". It is palm oil.

The palm oil, with or without trans fatty acids, increases the risk of colorectal cancer and diabetes.

It is true that palm oil and palm kernel oil are different because they are derived from fruits and seeds, but if you trace the origin, they are the same plant.

Of course, the manufacturers and distributors of palm-derived MCT oils said, "It's safe and has the same effect as coconut-derived. However, I think it is better to avoid it.

The second is Environmental destruction due to palm cultivation

What this means is that the original plant is palm, whether it's palm oil or palm kernel oil.

The palms can only be cultivated in the rainforests, and the development of the rainforests to grow the palms has made many wild animals incapable of living and the natural balance is upset.

The more palm products you use, the more you will accelerate the development of rainforests.

So I would like you to choose coconut-derived MCT oil, and even an organic and historic brand, for both the environment and the body.

⑤Oil is oil

Oil is oil, no matter how many things are good for you.

Moreover, MTC oil is a medium-chain fatty acid. Be careful not to take too much because it is a kind of saturated fatty acid (oil with properties that are a little closer to animal origin)!
